How to apply false eyelashes step by step

Everybody wants them, but only a lucky few are born with them: long, thick, dark eyelashes.  Well, the good thing is that it’s pretty easy to fake them!  Do it yourself false lashes are very popular and come in all different styles and sizes.  Whether you want them for everyday use or just for a special occasion or photo shoot, we have a simple step by step guide that makes application easy!

There are 2 types of false eyelashes; strip lashes and individual or clustered eyelashes.  Strip lashes are one piece that contains many hairs and creates a full lash line.  Individual and cluster eyelashes are either one single hair or a cluster of hairs. They can be applied just to fill in sparse areas or all over to create any type of look from natural to dramatic.

Individual lashes                         Strip lashes                          Clustered lashes

First, begin by trimming your false lashes as necessary.  Most strip lashes will be a bit too long to fit your eye so trim them with a cuticle scissor to fit.  You may carefully trim the length of the lashes as well if you like.  If you trim the length, try to trim each hair slightly different for a more natural look.

If applying individual or cluster lashes, squeeze some eyelash glue out onto a piece of tinfoil.  Use a tweezer to pick up the lash and gently dip the root in glue.  Apply the lash as close to your natural lash line as possible and gently press using a q-tip or the tip of your tweezers.

If applying strip lashes, you may either squeeze the glue directly onto the base of the strip, swipe the base of the strip through pre-squeezed glue, or brush the glue onto your lash line using a small, flat brush (same way you would apply eyeliner).  Next, press your strip lash onto your eyelid as close to your natural lash line as possible working from the outer corner inward.  Again you may press with a q-tip to ensure it has been firmly adhered.

Once applied, if your false lash doesn’t look right, take the piece off right away and try again.

The first few times may seem tricky, but once you get the hang of it you will be surprised how easy it is!

I always love the way they look, but can never seem to get a handle on the application. Thanks for the step by step instructions. I’m going to give it another try.

By the way, LOVE those Paperself lashes. So dramatic and glam!
