What is the best way to get rid of unwanted hair?

Getting rid of unsightly, stubborn hair on the body and face is such an annoyance! Why can’t someone just come out with a safe, permanent solution that works for everyone? Since that hasn’t happened yet we will just have to suffer with the methods that are currently available: waxing, shaving, depilatory creams, laser, IPL, and electrolysis.  Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of each method:

Waxing ($$) The process of pulling out multiple hairs by the roots using cool or warm wax

Tip – exfoliate skin in between treatments to prevent ingrown hair or use an ingrown hair treatment product regularly.  Use a hair growth inhibitor to extend the time period in between treatments and reduce the density of the hair.

Shaving ($) Cutting the hair off at the surface of the skin

Tip – Replace your razor regularly and use a good quality shave lotion to avoid irritation.

Depilatory Cream ($) Chemically dissolving the hair to just below the surface of the skin

Laser ($$$) Damaging the hair follicle with laser resulting in semi-permanent to permanent hair reduction

Tip – Ensure that your laser technician has the proper experience and credentials with a long standing, good reputation

IPL Therapy: Intense Pulsed Light ($$$) Damaging the hair follicle with specific wavelengths of light resulting in semi-permanent to permanent hair reduction

Tip – Ensure that your IPL technician has the proper experience and credentials with a long standing, good reputation

Electrolysis ($$$) Damaging the hair follicle with electric current resulting in semi-permanent to permanent hair reduction
