5 Golden Rules for Healthy Feet
Did you know that people take on average 10,000 steps in a day, adding up to 115,000 miles in a lifetime, enough to circle the planet four times. How are your feet feeling? With the average woman walking 10 miles per day and average man treading 7.
Careful, regular foot-care is important for overall well being. Not just when you have a particular problem with your feet, but a healthy and well-cared-for foot always aids in relaxation and fitness.
- Wear Shoes that Fit. Give preference to socks and shoes made from natural materials. Shoes that are too small constrict the feet and place unnecessary pressure on the toes, which can lead to ingrown toenails, deformed toes, painful blisters, and other conditions. Plastic fibres allow hardly any air to reach the foot, which can in turn encourage the development of athlete’s foot. Wearing cotton socks and fabric or leather shoes is an effective preventative measure because they allow the air to circulate well.
- Foot-care prevents problems. Massage or spray your feet daily with an appropiate GEHWOL FUSSKRAFT product. This is the way to keep your feet healthy and beautiful, and to not give athlete’s foot a chance!
- After washing, dry thoroughly in between the toes. Fungi thrive in a moist, warm environment. To prevent athlete’s foot, the feet should always be thoroughly dried and then treated with a GEHWOL FUSSKRAFT product for preventative purposes.
- If your skin or nails change, see your doctor as soon as possible.
- Cut your toenails short and carefully file down nailbeds that are too thick. Nails that are too long can dig in or may be excessively squashed in socks and shoes. However, they should also not be cut too short, in order to avoid minor wounds. Thick nailbeds increase the risk of pressure sores.
